“Dabke is a symbol of love and life””

Dabke is an old Middle Eastern folk dance that combines circular dance and line dance in which the participants dance  a combination of fixed movements and improvisation.
Dabke is extremely popular throughout the Middle East, and practiced across different sects, religions and nationalities. Historically, Dabke has been a meeting point for people of different backgrounds to come together by raw feelings of joy, celebration and fellowship.
Because of its inclusive character, Dabke is widely danced in weddings and festive public events. Recently Dabke has become increasingly popular in the West, gathering people from the Middle Eastern diaspora, and introducing this part of Middle Eastern culture to a western audience. Dabke's rhythms are irresistible, and unfamiliar dancers will soon feel welcome to join the experienced ones.
